Here is a link to the talking points and brief description of most bills and handouts today from AFT WA.

On these sites below, find and click "Comment on this bill." Verify your district and ckeck boxes for all 3 representatives. Fill out the info, comment and submit.
1. SB5194  AFT stance: Support  Providing for equity and access in the community and technical colleges.
2. HB1318  Support  Providing for equity and access in the community and technical colleges
3. SB5096  Support  Concerning an excise tax on gains from the sale or exchange of certain capital assets.
4. HB1406  AFT stance: Support  Improving the equity of Washington state's tax code by creating the Washington state wealth tax and taxing extraordinary financial intangible assets
5. HB1297 AFT stance: Support  Concerning working families tax exemption.
6. SB5323 AFT stance: Oppose Freezing wage and salaries and providing for furlough days during the 2021-2023 fiscal biennium.
 
Still in committee: Sign on to SB5194 as "Pro" for the committee to see that you are in support. Click here. Where it says "committee" select "Ways and Means." Where it says "Meetings" select "2/19/2021." Scroll down to find SB 2195 and click it. Scroll down, find and click "I would like my position noted..." On the new pace select "Pro" and fill out the information. Then click 'Submit Registration."

AFT Lobby Day (Feb. 15th): Sign up!

This last year proves that reinvestments in education are needed now more than ever. Investments directly affect our present and our future. The more members from our locals who can advocate together, the stronger the impact of our advocacy and the more progress we will see at the bargaining table and in state policy.

Lobby Day will be virtual this year, which means more of us can be heard than ever! Join others on February 15th to advocate for our students, educators, and our neighbors. We must ensure that the priorities of elected officials reflect all Washingtonians!

Lobby Day will start at 9 AM February 15th on Zoom. The day will include a training, trivia with prizes, a panel, a lunch break with grocery voucher provided, scheduled meetings with legislators, and more! We will conclude around 3:30 PM.
