Less than two weeks ago Hurricane Ida ravaged parts of Southeastern Louisiana. Power lines were torn down, water was left undrinkable, homes are damaged and destroyed and most unfortunately, lives have been lost. For many, the recovery process has only just started. This is a time when we must all come together to help our neighbors and rebuild our communities. To help aid in this recovery, the Louisiana Federation of Teachers has partnered with the American Federation of Teachers to provide hardship assistance to members impacted by Hurricane Ida.

The University of Wisconsin System including the University of Wisconsin–Madison is undergoing a Title and Total Compensation project (TTC), under which 1,800 distinct job titles across UW System campuses are being reevaluated, streamlined, and simplified.

The frontline healthcare workers at Kaiser Permanente are fighting right now to maintain good patient care and working conditions. Safe staffing and the kind of wages and benefits that can retain staff is their top priority as they bargain their new union contract. We are Patient Defenders: we are the front line to ensuring that our community gets the healthcare it needs to stay healthy.
