President and Trustee Open Position

Greetings Classified Staff!! 

 We now have an opening as a Trustee on the Chapter Executive Team.

 With the vacancy of the President and Trustee position, we will be taking nominations at our September chapter meeting.    

The September Chapter meeting will be held on September 11th at 5:30 pm in the library at Thurston High School.    

 We will accept nominations again at the October chapter meeting at which time, nominations close and balloting occurs.

Harford County Contract Negotiations

The Maryland Classified Employees Association is pleased to announce that contract negotiations with Harford County Government have been successfully ratified by the parties. The new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) became effective on July 1, 2018 and will remain in effect until June 30, 2019.

Rally for Retirees

MCEA will hold a Rally for Retirees which is scheduled for Wednesday, July 18, 2018. The rally will begin at 6:00 p.m. at MCEA headquarters, 7127 Rutherford Rd., Baltimore MD 21244.

MPEC Member Meeting

When we fight… we win! That was the battle cry at the 2018 Maryland Professional Employees Council annual member meeting. The meeting addressed the Supreme Court’s Janus decision but also focused on upcoming battles the union would be undertaking.

2018 HTA Summer Coverage

The HTA office will be closed for the summer after Friday, June 22. The executive council will continue to work throughout these months from home. Email message from MEA President Ed Vasta - "Get Ready - The Attack on Our Union Has Begun!"

Dear Sisters and Brothers:

 

As you know, this past Wednesday the U. S. Supreme Court ruled in the case of Janus v. AFSCME that the collection of agency fees by public sector unions is an unconstitutional infringement of the First Amendment rights of nonmembers. Nonmembers now have the right to receive the same contractual benefits as members without paying anything to support the union that secures those benefits for all of us.
